Safety First: Why We Took Our Websites Offline to Protect Customers

22.10.2026

When a critical global cybersecurity threat emerged, Abtech Safety supported swift, precautionary action to protect our customers and digital services.

At Abtech, safety is at the heart of everything we do. It shapes the products we supply, the services we provide and the decisions we make to protect our customers.

On Wednesday 21 October, our websites were temporarily taken offline as a precautionary measure in response to critical security vulnerabilities affecting PHP, a technology widely used to power websites around the world.

Taking swift action to protect our customers

Our website hosting provider was among the first in its industry to take decisive preventative action, temporarily suspending affected services while the necessary security updates were made available and implemented.

The threat prompted urgent warnings from cybersecurity authorities across Europe, including the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). At EU level, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), alongside the European Commission, CERT-EU and Europol, issued a joint warning calling for immediate action to protect vulnerable systems.

Although this caused a temporary interruption to our online services, we fully supported the decision to prioritise security over convenience.

When faced with a potential safety or security risk, acting early is always preferable to dealing with the consequences later.

Websites restored and security updates completed

Following the release of official security patches, Liana Technologies implemented the necessary updates and restored its affected services on 21 October.

Liana has also confirmed that its investigation found no evidence of unauthorised access, malicious activity or compromised customer data.

Our websites are now back online and operating normally.

Safety is more than a product

Whether we are helping people work safely at height, supporting rescue operations or protecting our digital services, our approach remains the same: identify risks, act responsibly and put safety first.

We apologise for the temporary inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience and understanding.

Because safety isn't just what we do. It's how we do business.
